Just so you know...

Just so you know...

This year the Salem 3rd Ward meets at 11 AM at the Salem Ward building. Sacrament is first, followed by Priesthood/Relief Society and is wrapped up with Sunday School.

You can find out the leadership of the ward by logging on to the Ward website in conjunction with the church. Log onto http://www.lds.org/ . On the far right side of the web page is a quick link titled STAKE AND WARD WEBSITES. If you have not previously registered, you can sign up to register. You will need your membership record number. This number can be found on your temple recommend or you can ask for a Individual Ordinance Summary from our ward clerk, Dale McPherson. Once you log on, it will take you to the Salem 3rd Ward website for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. From there you can click onto links for the Stake, the leadership directory, or membership directory of our ward. As I look thru the information, I have found it to be VERY up to date considering the vast array of our recent overhaul. Even I, who was sustained as the Primary Secretary just last week...it's in there!!!

Today, I handed out the CD's for the songs that the Primary will be learning during this year. Although most families will get a CD because they either have a kiddo in primary or because they teach primary; if you want access to those songs, just click here... Another way to help teach the music, click here...

A bit of Salem history...

The first Bishop of the original Salem Ward, George H.B. Harris was called and set apart by Thomas E. Ricks on November 23, 1884. The Salem Ward was formally organized in February 1885 by the Apostle John Taylor. Bishop Harris served for 15 years. There were 13 Bishops of the original Salem Ward.
On February 11, 1979, Salem Ward became Salem 1st and 2nd Wards. Glade Wasden was called as Bishop of the new Salem 1st Ward and Paul Mortensen was called as Bishop of the new Salem 2nd Ward. In the spring of 1996, Salem 1st split again and the Salem 3rd Ward was organized with Mark Gehmlich serving as Bishop of the 1st Ward and Torrey Bird serving as the new Salem 3rd Ward Bishop.
On November 22, 2009 the Salem 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Wards were reorganized and a new Teton River Ward was formed. Serving as Bishop in the Salem 1st Ward is Cleve Bagley, Bishop of the Salem 2nd Ward is Charles Allen, Bishop of the Salem 3rd Ward is Bart Lynn and Bishop of the Teton River Ward is Kendall Grant.
